Exhibits-Awards-Commissions
Though I strive to paint with words I find as did Georgia O'Keefe,“that I can say things with color and shapes that can't be expressed with words. I have always been at home with both mediums---writing and visual expression and look to these luminaries, who worked as literary and visual artists as mentors: Sylvia Plath, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, the Bronte sisters and many others. A few years ago a validation came by way of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission when I was accepted into ted by the Artist's Residency Institute for Teaching Artists as both a literary and visual artist.
I love nature and to observe nature. So, creating art from nature is a natural progression of this observation. I never hope to recreate exactly what I see as life does that already. Instead, I strive to capture the spirit and essence of what is before me and add to the narrative with my own inner vision. I also creative intuitively and completely from imagination." Water color is the primary medium I am working in now, but I also work in charcoal, mixed media, digital collage, colored pencil, pen and collage.
